Dear Taylor,

7
Downing Street,
14
December, 1931.
Thanks for your letter of 31st October.
Colonel Drury's salary at date of retirement was £650
plus £147-3-0 cost of living bonus. He had had 30 years
Imperial service.
On the £650 he was awarded: -
pension 30/80ths = £243-15-0
lump sum 30/30ths = £650.
On the cost of living bonus he was awarded a
fluctuating pension which cannot exceed £55-3-7.
The
lump sum on the bonus was £100-6-3 computed with regard
to the cost of living figure at date of retirement.
What I meant by "similarly etc." was this.
When you come to retire Hong Kong will take her
scheduled service and final pensionable emoluments
5
and compute a pension of goths 60ths.
